This is my first post using Vine, the short-form video app from Twitter. Vine lets you create quick 6-second videos that can be shared directly on Vine or through Twitter, as long as your Twitter account is connected. I find it to be a perfect medium for recipes and simple how-to clips.

Naturally, the easiest recipes to showcase in this format are juices and smoothies, which is why I chose a juicing recipe for my very first Vine post. All you really need are a handful of fresh, raw ingredients and a good blender or juicer to bring it all together.

So here it is — Guava Greens, a juice packed with leafy greens and what I like to call liquid gold, because it’s just that good for you.

Ingredients

  • 2 guavas
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 medium bunch spinach
  • 1 lemon, peeled (optional)
  • 1/2-inch piece of ginger (optional)

Method

Chop all the fruits into bite-sized pieces. Turn on the juicer and slowly feed the ingredients into the chute. Drink immediately, or store in a glass bottle or mason jar with a tight-fitting lid in the refrigerator.

With green juices, it’s always best to consume them as soon as possible. If you need to store it, filling a mason jar all the way to the top and sealing it tightly helps slow oxidation and keeps the juice fresh for a few hours in the refrigerator. If you’re using a centrifugal juicer, be sure to drink the juice quickly, as it oxidizes faster than juice made with other types of juicers.
