It’s been an eventful year for sure — at least on the food front. If you’ve been following along, you may have noticed that Roz Ka Khana has gradually shifted toward a stronger focus on healthy living and mindful eating.  Snappy Salads, 30 day green smoothie challenges, juicing, detoxing, and cleansing were some of the highlights of 2013. Of course, the year was also dotted with baked treats from the We Knead to Bake challenges, a few “healthy” desserts, and several festival round-ups.

Despite the inevitable lulls and highs that come with cooking and blogging, I’m genuinely proud of what we’ve created together this year and excited to see where 2014 takes us.

I wrapped up 2013 with a much-needed trip to Dallas — or home, as I still call it — surrounded by the warmth and love of family and friends. It was a chance to reconnect, relive old memories, and reaffirm a positive outlook for the year ahead. And yes, there was plenty of memorable food along the way, which I promise to share in upcoming posts. Expect some wonderful Andhra recipes, baked goodies, and, of course, more salads, juices, and healthy fare.

As we step into a new year, here’s a simple resolution: to continue moving toward a healthier, more holistic, and more mindful way of living and eating. I also wanted to take a moment to acknowledge a few websites and blogs that inspired me throughout 2013 and continue to do so as I take small, steady steps toward better health.

Simple Green Smoothies remains my go-to source of inspiration for those morning cups of greens — no more caffeine.

Juicing for Health and Juice with Drew (both their websites and Facebook pages) have been great resources for vegetable-focused juicing ideas.

My Yoga Online offers one of the best collections of studio-style yoga classes and mind–body videos. The annual subscription is well worth it, and if you’d like to try it out, let me know — I’m happy to share a free one-week invite.

Fitness Blender has been my choice for effective cardio and strength-training workouts. The best part is that all their videos are free.

For general wellness inspiration, food-related articles, and thoughtful content, Raw for Beauty and Mind Body Green (both the websites and Facebook pages) have been consistent favorites.

I came across a Raw for Beauty image paired with a Voltaire quote that perfectly captured the spirit of welcoming a new year — a reminder that felt especially fitting as we move into 2014.

Here’s wishing you a blissful, healthy, and truly scrumptious year ahead.
